The Family Album: Larry Sultan.

'Pictures from Home' released in 1992 is Larry Sultans homage towards his parents. For a period of time in the 1980s, Sultan returned to California and took stills of both mother and father and the relationship they held. He wanted to use his family to prove a point of what happens when we are driven by success. The album book he released not only gives a full on few into his personal life and actually questions the motivations of love.

When looking at his photographs its clear to see that these photos are raw and look to be snapshots in time.  Much like Martin Parr the freeze frame moments in time send a message. In Sultans case he sends the message that makes us question love. His photos make me want to know more, while they expose the truths about his parents relationship; there are still things that are remained a secret- this as a result draws me in and makes me like this series of photos even more.
