For the first week of the 'My Family Album' project i decided to get take pictures of whoever going about there normal day. for the most part this worked. I also decided to take all my photos on an iPhone so it feels more natural in the moment rather than shooting with a big camera.
Looking at the photos i took this week, i have found that i have used the rule of thirds relatively well. On the photograph of my Granddad especially. Moreover, on the picture of my cousin some cropping could be done to make the picture more pleasing to the eye. This means, the hand you can see to the right of the picture can be cut out and the picture now looks completely focused onto my cousin.
The picture of my Granddad is my favourite photo that i've taken this week, this is because i blurred the background out so that he is the main focus however you can still see the banners of a birthday party- this would insinuate that he is at a party. As a result, the picture gives out more information that just who he is- it shows the reason why he is there and what he might be doing too.
Moreover, the use of rule of thirds in the picture makes it look more ascetically pleasing to the eye. I think these types of photos are like the ones Larry Sultan took- they have become snapshots in time of what was happening and how they felt in the moment. This allows something to be taken from the photograph from the person in the picture and those that were also there.
