Like Eugene Atget, Henri Carter-Bresson is known as the 'God-father' of street photography. When comparing the pictures from other street photographers, its clear that Bresson focused in on something in the picture that most people would block out. This makes his photos stand out- they become surreal street photos that people are interested in seeing. He paid attention to shapes and frames he could make realistically- capturing the photograph at the right time where everything is in perfect place.
When alive, Henri Carter-Bresson would talk of a decisive moment. What time exactly would you take a picture in order for it to be ascetically pleasing for a viewer. He is described as being methodological when going out and shooting; this is because he would find the perfect shot and wait for a person to walk past to make the picture complete.
He also talking about his camera, and its lens being an extension of his eye. Through-out his entire career, he only used a 50mm lens in his camera. This instantly shows how his pictures are as realistic as they come. The 50mm lens is a standard lens, which many describe as what we can see. Bresson used this to his advantage and managed to capture some of the most historic street photos with it.
