This week I'm letting you in on the top 10 best series to binge watch on Netflix, both in isolation and 2020. There's no doubt over the past couple of years Netflix has dominated viewing screens, with 'Netflix Originals' that get millions finishing new seasons in one sitting. Here are 10 Netflix based pickings for you all that you should get watching...
Obviously, number 1 has got to be 'Tiger King.' The show thats taken the world by storm is not only a show about big cats, but hired murder and an unsuspected 'death' of a husband. With 34 million people watching it in its first 10 days of life, it's safe to say that the life of Joe Exotic is a sight to see- or watch. The documentary not only holds twist and turns you couldn't think of, but also highlights the big cat industry, its problems and subtly says that something more should probably be done. Whether you're a fan of big cats or not, the life there handlers lead is one to behold, deep diving into 'Tiger King' is a must.
Coming in at number 2 is 'Money Heist' or its original title 'La Casa De Papel.' This spanish series has just released season 4 onto UK Netflix and I couldn't have been more excited. The show follows a group as they try and take on the biggest heist in history- the Royal Mint of Spain. Whether you watch this show dubbed or not, you will be hooked, just when you think you can grasp whats going to happen, the story takes a turn and opens a whole can of worms- kind of like the situation the police find themselves in with 'The Professor' and his recruits. This show has everything, and makes you feel every emotion and I cannot wait for season 5.
In at number 3 is 'Ozark.' With 3 seasons Ozark has been a secret favourite of mine since it came out. Along with same lines of crime, Marty Byrde's family are thrown into a world they never thought when money laundering goes wrong. The show is beautifully shot and keeps you on the edge of your seat through-out. The new season ramps up the pressure and tension and sets up for an Ozark war coming to season 4 as death, money and drugs takes this family to predicaments. Season 3 is one of my favourite releases this year and I'm sat waiting in suspense for season 4 to come along.
Number 4 is 'The Innocence Files.' This new strand of 'true crime' documentaries follows the Innocence Project as they try to overturn convictions where those guilty are innocent. This is a personal favourite of mine, along with every other true crime-esque documentary on the platform; The Innocence Files is different because it fights for those prosecutors who *could've* known that they were convicting an innocent person, should face consequences. The nine episodes are not only heartbreaking for those who've spend decades in prison; but for the victims- the closure they thought they had was a lie, and episode 6 highlights this. As someone who's interested in true crime, The Innocence Files presents solved crime that falls far from the truth.
My final recommendation comes days before the new season hits screens- Ricky Gervais' 'After Life.' The comedy/ drama series follows a man as he tries to live his life after the death of his wife. A heartbreaking comedy that filled screens last year is back with a new season on Friday (the 24th of April.) I was immediately interested in this show being a fan of Ricky Gervais and adored the first season. While I can't comment on the new season, I have high hopes for it; and will be setting aside my Friday to polish it off in one sitting- a review is incoming.
And there you have it! Some TV shows you can get your teeth into during lockdown; this list I believe has everything on it- comedy, crime, documentaries, lions, tigers and bears (oh my!) Let me know any shows you've been watching recently, and if you delve or have delved into any of these shows, let me know you think!
